The Data Science Initiative at Rice University is a multidisciplinary coalition working towards cutting-edge data-driven solutions and education for next generation citizens.
Research faculty in every School on campus are developing research projects to develop data science methods and applications.
Education opportunities are available for undergraduate students, graduate students, and the greater Rice community. The new Data Science minor offers undergraduate students the opportunity to supplement core curriculum in any major with data science quantitative technical courses, as well as communications and ethics courses centered on data science. Various professional masters programs at Rice provide graduate-level education with a focus on data science.
Through courses offered by the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies, as well as workshops and boot camps offered by other internal organizations (e.g., Ken Kennedy Institute), members of the greater Rice community have access to continued data science education. Rice organizations such as the Data to Knowledge Lab (D2K), the Ken Kennedy Institute (K2I), and the Kinder Institute afford collaboration opportunities with external entities, such as companies and community organization.
