The greater Rice community is always invited to engage with the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies. The course catalog lists various types of education around data analytics (e.g., advanced certificate, boot camp). Through the Glasscock School, community members can learn a range of skills, from advanced excel and social media mining to machine learning and advanced statistics. Programming experience is often not a prerequisite. These programs are typically part-time programs over the span of a few months.
Rice’s Ken Kennedy Institute (K2I) also offers data science boot camps. The K2I boot camps offers its own range of curriculum from deep learning and cloud computing, to python and R. These are typically week-long, intensive boot camps.
The Severe Storm Prediction, Education, and Evacuation from Disasters (SSPEED) Center offers one- and two-day workshops related to hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and flood warning, as well as bi-annual conferences on flood hazards facing the City of Houston and the Gulf Coast Region. Continuing Education (CE) credits for Professional Development Hours (PDH) are provided. To learn more about upcoming workshops or conferences, visit SSPEED’s Events Page.
